    Hi Lisa,

Thank you SO much for all your beautiful brushes I LOVE them. Particularly this new set. I do have a question if I may?

Do you have any tips on taking the watercolour art you’ve created in procreate and printing it out so it looks what I’ve created on my iPad? Either as an art print or getting it ready to print onto a product like a cushion cover for example? Every time I’ve tried to print it onto paper it’s looked nothing like what I’ve made on my screen and I don’t know if it’s that I’m saving it in the wrong format or if I need to do something to it before hand like remove the canvas?

    Thanks in advance!
    Katie

      Hi Katie,

Super happy you’re enjoying the brushes!!

Printing is a BIG topic because there are so many factors to consider. But just a quick tip upfront, I would recommend removing the “Paper” layer when you export for printing, this can clash with your surface you’re printing onto – so not the entire Paper Effects layer, just the Paper layer that creates the texture you see overall (including in the white areas).

In general, there are many factors that influence the printed result, it depends on your printer and the printer settings, ink calibration, artwork colour mode versus printer preferred colour mode (ie. RGB vs CMYK), and your paper choice. It also goes without saying that the artwork needs to be high-resolution, no less than 300dpi. Getting artwork to print the way we see it on screen can be tricky as the two colour systems (screen vs printer) are completely different from each other.

To help the end result, I often increase my colour saturation as I find the colour is more saturated on screen vs how it will print. Increasing the saturation will make the printed result more vibrant (always save a copy of your original artwork before making adjustments). It might also be worth adjusting the contrast of your image, making the darker colours slightly darker and the lighter colours slightly more vibrant, will give your final print more contrast and make it look less “flat”. But it’s very important to make all the adjustments in small increments and test the results by printing a small sample area, before making further adjustments.

Once you’re happy with the test results, you can then commit to printing the final artwork. I personally love using uncoated fine art paper that looks like watercolour paper – I’ve even printed on actual watercolour paper too. This looks particularly authentic when the artwork was created using the painterly brushes. Hope that helps!

    Hi Lisa
Just downloaded Aqua Real 2. A great enhancement of the original Aqua Real set, but without replacing them – so now I’m using both sets!
You really outdid yourself with the tutorial as well. Now I can challenge you to make extended tutorials for the other sets!
For me you can start with the Plush set. I really enjoy the dry media approach and I use this set a lot.
    Keep them coming!!

Thank you so much Robert! I’m so glad you’re using both in your work! I love the combo too And thank you for the suggestion, it’s definitely on my “to-do” list to create more in depth tutorials for the other sets.

Yay! So glad you are all sorted! The canvases are carefully created Procreate documents so you can import them the same way you would import a brushset. Once imported they will appear in your Gallery. If you have any other questions at all, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Thank you so much for being a customer! I hope you enjoy using the brushes.

Hi, I downloaed your brushes right now on my Windows PC. I exported brushsets to my iPad but I could not transfer the canvases. I thought they are big image file, aren’t they? How can I use them? Please let me know~~

Hi Lisa, love your brushes, very nice work. The included color palette can be printed or do you have any recommendation how to set printing compatible colors in procreate?

    • Avatar

      Lisa Glanz

      Hi Ladislav,
The tutorial colour palette included is definitely “print-ready”, however printing is a complex topic as there are so many variables to consider. The main obstacle is the difference between what you see on screen and how the artwork will look when finally printed. This is due screens and prints create colours in different ways. Computers use red, green and blue (RGB) light to display colours, while print uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK) ink. Colours that are created by emitted light can never be perfectly reproduced in ink, and vice versa. There are many other factors like printer settings, ink calibration, artwork colour mode versus printer preferred colour mode (ie. RGB vs CMYK), and your paper choice. I always recommend doing a test print first before committing to an expensive final print. When you do a test you can determine whether you need to adjust saturation and contrast etc to get the results you want. Hope that helps!

What an absolutely fabulous brush pack! I thought the original Aqua Real brushes were fabulous, but this set is even more ‘real’. Lisa makes the best Procreate brushes out there and I buy each new pack without hesitation and am never disappointed.
